This assessment is to be undertaken ina fully equipped aged care facility.

For this assessment, you are to be observed on 3 separate occasions (2 observations by your workplace supervisor and 1 observation by your assessor). For this activity you are required to demonstrate your ability to work effectively with information about the human body and its healthy functioning in at least 3 different situations. The following will be observed:
1. Discuss limiting vices with a client, ensuring that you discuss how the relationships between different body systems affect and support healthy functioning.
2. Discuss with a co-worker the health benefits of eating healthily and exercising regularly for older clients including active and passive exercise.
Your 3 observations will be observed as follows:
• 2 observations by your host employer / workplace supervisor that will be verified by your assessor from your College
• 1 observation by an Assessor from your College
(These are to be recorded in your Work Placement Record Book that will be given to you by your assessor)

QUESTIONS
1. Using the correct terminology, describe the normal structure, function and location and interrelationships of each of the major body systems. Also evaluate how the relationships between different body systems affect and support healthy functioning. This should include:

a. Body regulation including:
i. Maintenance of body temperature
ii. Fluid and electrolyte (including PH) balance
iii. Elimination of wastes from the body
iv. Maintenance of blood pressure

b. Protection from infection
c. Physical activity – active and passive
2. Create a “Healthy Body Maintenance” fact sheet or handout that would be appropriate to put in the waiting room at a local health service. This fact sheet/handout should be a minimum single sided, or maximum a double sided A4 information sheet. It should include information on:
a. Body regulation
b. Protection from infection
c. Active and passive exercise (the benefits of both)
Answer: There are several systems of human body such as:
1. Circulatory system
2. Digestive system and Excretory system
3. Endocrine system
4. Integumentary system and Exocrine system
5. Immune system and lymphatic system
6. Muscular system
7. Nervous system
8. Renal system and Urinary system
9. Reproductive system
10. Respiratory system
11. Skeletal system
• There are many functions of human body systems like this:
• Circulatory system:The other names of circulatory system is known as vascular and cardiovascular system. It is made up of vessels that carries the blood away from as well as towards the heart. On the other side, arteries carry the blood away from the heart only and the veins give blood back to the heart. The vascular system carries lot of functions such as: carries oxygen, hormones to the cells, removal of waste products: carbon dioxide.
• Digestive System: The main and wonderful function of digestive system is digestion as well as absorption. In the process of digestion, digestion breakdown the food into (convert) small molecules after that, which are absorbed into the body. It is very important to secrete the digestive enzymes and many more substances such as liquefies, adjust the level of PH, and also helpful to breakdown the food chemically.
• Endocrine system: The function of the endocrine system is to maintain the hormones or in other words makes hormones that control many things like: our mood, growth or development, organs, reproduction scale and so on. Very importantly, it sends the particular hormones to the bloodstream to travel to other body parts. It is also called the collection of glands.
• Integumentary or exocrine system: In the exocrine system, there are glands which secrete substances onto the surface is called epithelial by the way of duct. They include sweat, lacrimal, mammary gland, sebaceous and so on glands.
• Immune system: Immune system plays vital role in our body. The basic function of immune system is collection of mechanism that in the result gives protection from diseases by identifying as well as killing the pathogens (virus) or cells relate with tumor or tumor cells in a simple meaning protect from diseases or infections. If the immune system is able to fight with all the diseases, then as a result the particular human being have a wonderful body function.
• Muscular system: Very important function is movement and that particular function is done by the muscular system. In the muscular system, the tissues have the wonderful ability to contract and relax and at the result, with the help of contraction, move the other parts of the body. On the other hand, due to relaxation, helpful to maintain the posture as well as the positions of the body.
• Nervous system: In the nervous system, there are three main functions which are observed like: it consists of lot of body parts like brain, spinal cord, sensory organs. Important function is to collect sensory input particularly from the body as well as external environment. It is also important to respond appropriately.
• Renal system: This is also known as Urinary system or urinary tract. These include kidneys, bladder, the urethra or ureters. They important function of renal system is to

eliminate the waste products from the body and also regulate the volumes of blood or blood pressures, control metabolites, electrolytes as well as regulate the blood level of PH.
• Reproductive system: there are two types of reproductive system: male and female reproductive system. With the help of this, a new baby is born in the simple words. In the female reproductive system, the main function is the formation of an egg (gametes). It also produces the hormones which is related to sex called estrogen and it also provide the surface for fertilization, giving the birth to the baby, very importantly, breastfeeding after the baby born. On the hand, if we are talking about the male reproductive system is important to maintain or transport the sperms or protective fluid called semen. Very necessary to discharge the sperms into the female tract.
• Respiratory system: They respiration is very important for all individuals, with the help of this system, oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchange. By this system the breathing process is occur. Respiratory system also helps to produce the sound as well as helpful in protection from microbes or dust.
• Skeletal system: The human beings skeletal system performs major functions like: support, protection, movements, mineral’s storage, blood cell’s production as well as regulation in endocrine. They system is composed of bones or cartilage and at the result, perform crucial and critical functions.

8. How do the Skeletal, Muscular, Cardiovascular and Respiratory system co-operate to allow the body to function properly and enable movement?

Answer: According to the observations, on the basis to maintain the movement of the (our) bodies like heart, blood, lungs, or muscles have an ability to work together for performing many functions such as deliver, absorb, utilise O2 in the particular formation of enabling the energy to move. On the other words, It is measure that how both of the cardiorespiratory system works well together to enable movement. However, on the basis of bones as well as muscles, work together to support and also move the body. Takes the oxygen in from the air into the body by respiratory system and get rid the carbon dioxide. Carries the amount of H2O (water), O2(oxygen) or nutrients to the cells throughout the body is called circulatory system. So, the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular and respiratory system co-operate to allow the body to perform functions properly and enable movements.
9. Using the correct terminology from the list below, label the diagram of the heart.

Words: Aorta, Superior Vena Cava, Inferior Vena Cava, Right Atrium, Left Atrium, Right Ventricle, Left Ventricle, Tricuspid Valve, Mitral Valve, Apex, Right Pulmonary Artery, Right Pulmonary Veins, Left Pulmonary Artery, Left Pulmonary Veins

Answer: The main principle parts of human cells are: Nucleus, cytoplasm, cell membrane.
Regardless of what type of cellular, plant, animal as well as bacteria, all of the cells have a mobile Membrane, Cytoplasm and Chromatin: the other word of chromatin is genetic fabric.
But there are many organelles that incorporate the anatomical and physiological elements of the cell. They followings are:
1. Cell membrane: Outer defensive as well as selective permeable boundary towards the cells of surroundings.
2. Cell wall: Cell wall helps in the mechanism and shielding the boundary of the mobile.
3. Cytoplasm: This is an inner plasma structure housing of all other organelles and imparting mobile form.
4. Chromatin - Genetic cloth along with DNA and RNA, offering the blueprint of mobile structure and characteristic for the manufacturing of proteins.
5. Nucleus: Nuclear envelope surrounds with the chromatin as well as the nucleolus oversees nuclear activities inside the cell and nuclear.
6. Endoplasmic Reticulum:The way for the formation of proteins containing ribosomes to procedure chains of amino acids.
7. Endoplasmic Reticulum:The way for materials in the course of the cellular.
8. Mitochondria: It is also called the powerhouse of the cellular producing power (ATP) via cell breathing.
9. Chloroplasts:  Produce saved power via photosynthesis.
10. Vacuoles: Storage the meals of bubbles, strength and wastes.
11. Lysosomes - Digestive plastids for woods and wastes.
12. Chromoplasts: Oil’s processing as well as storage and pigments for energy production.
13. Cilia, Flagella, Pseudopods - outside projections of the cellular membrane for motion and food collecting.
• These are the simplifications of actual processes as well as capabilities of the organelles of a mobile.
