Assignment Task:

Task:

Scenario | Part 1
You are working for a patient transport and response company in South East Queensland within a rural city. (e.g. Gympie)
You and your partner have been dispatched to domestic violence dispute in a local suburb, where a man has apparently pushed a woman, causing what she described to dispatch as a ‘busted ankle’. When you arrive on scene 15 minutes later, the state of the residence appears like the following picture.

Using the scenario respond to the following:
1. Apart from the uneven surface, identify four (4) possible risks you have identified and categorise them as physical and/or biological.

2. What are some control measures you can employ to help mitigate the risk mentioned in your response to the question above?

3. You have identified that the uneven surface posed a significate risk to your access and egress on the scene. Explain why this is a risk and the potential consequences. (50-100 words)

4. Using the ‘level of risk’ guide, deduce the level of consequence and likelihood on the ‘risk of tripping hazards’. Justify your response. (50-100 words)

5. What priority (1-5) would you allocate to the ‘risk of tripping’?

Scenario | Part 2
You and your partner decide to wait for a police escort, given the nature of the call out and scene analysis on arrival.

Once police arrive, you approach the scene and are greeted at the door by the accursed male. He is non-threatening and informs you that his wife is in the kitchen, offering to stay with the police officers.

In the kitchen you notice a 52-year-old female, Janos, sitting at the table with her foot elevated and in obvious pain. Janos is awake, aware and responsive but slightly dazed at times when responding to questions, sometimes slurring her words ever so often. There is evidence of a wet productive cough, and she informs you she has had it for the past three (3) weeks.
