Question 1
Fifteen sets of identical twins were enrolled in a study to measure the effect of air pollution on neonatal mortality. One twin in each set was randomly assigned to the intervention group (renewable energy) or control group (non-renewable energy). At the end of the day, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded, as shown in the data below.

a) Perform a distribution-free test on these data and write a summary of what the result show 
b) State briefly why you think a distribution-free test was chosen to analyse these data 

Question 2 
A crossover study was designed to examine whether using a mobile phone while driving increases the risk of a motor vehicle accident in the Sydney airport tunnel. The study considered 150 drivers with mobile telephones involved in motor vehicle accidents. Each driver's mobile phone call on the day of the accident and during the previous week was analysed using detailed phone billing records. 70 of the 150 subjects had used the mobile telephone during the 10-minute period immediately before the accident, 37 subjects had used the mobile telephone during the same period on the day before the accident, and 13 subjects had used the mobile telephone during both periods.
a) Draw a 2 by 2 table
b) Is there any evidence of a difference in the effect?
c) Write a summary of what the results show.
 

Question 3
A study revealed that 23 attendees of a birthday party recalled having Immunity boosting vegetable soup (Vegan), and 16 of them revealed that Vegan soup cures their throat infection, an incidence of 70%. 22 attendees did not recall having Vegan soup, and 9 of these revealed that their throat infection was cured, with an incidence of 41%.
a) Draw a 2 by 2 table
b) Analyse these data and write a summary report concluding your findings 
c) Comment briefly on why the measure of effect you chose is appropriate for the study.

Question 4 
An investigator randomly sorts 17 participants' anxiety scores into three groups, no anxiety, low- medium anxiety, and high anxiety. Each participant was interviewed and was rated from 0 to 100. At the end of the study, each subject's ratings are across all three groups. The table below gives these scores for each subject in each group.

a) Is the data normally distributed? Provide reasons for your answer 
b) Determine if the three groups' scores are the same? Hence, write a summary of what the results show.
