Environmental Assignment:

You are working as a Trainee Civil Engineer for a building and civil engineering company invited to be contracted for the construction of houses on a large long-term dam project being constructed for a 5 year period. You have been instructed to develop a cost-effective staff accommodation unitsand resettlement buildings involving 300 three bedroom housing units for the site. Your CEO is planning to strengthen the company’s position in the market by winning this job which involves competitive tendering. Produce a report, which will include you're preferred architectural but dimensioned sketches or drawings, measurements and a cost estimate(s) for the staff quarters. This report is to be distributed to your colleagues who will take part in the preparation of the tenders. Your objective is to guide your colleagues and improve their performance during the Tendering and Estimating process. Questions: 1) Explore the client’s involvement in the tender process for the development of the housing scheme. 2) Discuss the constraints which may apply to the housing project. There are many constraints that you should describe and analyze, among them: client objectives and constraints; financial and design influences and other constraints as well. 3) Describe the scope of the contractual documentation required to support the tender process. This description should include the BOQs and how these are obtained through the some taking off estimating process.
