HNN320 Leadership and Clinical Governance

Purpose of assessment task 1 Nurses play a critical leadership role in identifying and responding to changes in patients’ health status, preventing adverse events and supporting patients throughout their care.   To ensure safe and quality patient care a Registered Nurse must have a variety of leadership skills. The ability to identify and manage risks is one of these skills.   Assignment question: For this assessment task you are required to: • Examine and critically discuss the evidence related to the impact of hand hygiene on maintaining patient safety; and • Reflect on learning throughout the course (including clinical practice) where you identified or witnessed a patient at risk. The reflection must include a discussion on the leadership role of the registered nurse in managing this risk.
