Third Writing Assignment: "Honor" in C. Brentano's "The Tale of Honest Casper and Fair Annie" (1817) 

In class, we have discussed how Casper, Annie, and other characters in Brentano's tale are guided by a sense of "honor," however defined. For example, Casper, growing up motherless and with no positive male role models, enlists in the military where he finds respect and "honor" among his fellow soldiers. Annie, without parents, traumatized at Hunter iiirg's execution, and later killing her own child, also invokes "honor" during and especially towards the very end of her life. 
For this third and final writing assignment: What does it mean to live a life with "honor" in this society ? Choose ONE character from Brentano's tale (it doesn't have to be Casper or Annie) and discuss. Be sure to cite specific examples from the text and to place the page numbers in parenthesis after the quote/reference.

The first draft will be due on Monday December 7, 2020 by 11:59 pm. It must be uploaded to the appropriate location on our Blackboard site. Be sure to write your NAME within the FILE NAME for your tale. 
The first draft is NOT graded — all students will have the opportunity to improve their papers when submitting the final version.
