Research Plan

The research plan requires you to set out your research idea and how you are going to implement it in your dissertation. General guidance will be given in the first lecture regarding what you need to include in your plan. However, everyone's research plan will be different as it will reflect the individual research project being undertaken. Consequently, once supervisors have been allocated, you are allowed to meet with your supervisor once to discuss your research plan before you submit it. You can receive specific advice on your research plan, and how you need to tailor it to your research project, in this meeting.

Dissertation

The dissertation is an extended piece of independent research. As a result you are responsible for your research project.

You will be supervised during your dissertation. You are entitled to have an average of three meetings with your supervisor during this stage of the dissertation. These meetings are in addition to the one meeting you will have had regarding the research plan. The supervisor's role is to provide guidance.

Supervisors are not able to read any drafts of your dissertation.

You determine what is discussed at the meetings. Please make the most of your meetings with your supervisor by coming prepared with an agenda of the points you want to discuss and a list of questions that you would like to ask.
