The Assessment Task Summary: You are to create a 15-minute video presentation of your research proposal including your research plan. Focusing on your workplace or organization, your research proposal should present and justify your investigation of a specific issue/ topic in your workplace.

Detail: Please follow this format for your video proposal:

Title – what is the working title of your work-based project? Make sure your title conveys what you propose your project will do. This will use at least one action verb. Your title should be no more than 15 words.

Introduction and Research Context – as with any introduction, you should briefly outline the proposal’s structure and then address the following areas:

1. What is the setting/context of your project? Organization type/sector? A number of employees? Geographical location? Set the scene for your reader so they understand the context you are working in and what the setting for your project is.

2. What issue(s) or problem(s) will your work-based project examine? What is your project about or trying to achieve?

3. Why are you interested in your chosen issue/ topic/ title? Why is this topic important for your organization to know more about? What is the rationale for your topic choice?

4. What steps have you taken to consult with your organization? Who are the key stakeholders you need to consult with, and why?

5. What are the aim and objectives of your project?

6. What research question/s does your project aim to answer?

7. (Where appropriate) What hypothesis/es will your research test?
 

Research Rationale – Why is it important to research this topic in relation to your workplace? This section should be indicative. You need to identify the landmark studies in your topic area and describe how these relate to the issue/ topic you intend to look at in your work-based project. You are not expected to have thoroughly read and absorbed all the books and papers you discuss, but you will obviously need to know what the literature is about.

9. How will you secure consent from your participants?

10. What analytical procedure(s) and tools will you use to analyze your data? Why?
