Area of research The health issue you will be researching is workplace stress. The workplace and employment are important social determinants of health (Wilkinson & Marmot 2003). Workplace stress is preventable and manageable, yet contributes to poor mental health, poor physical health and risky health behaviours (LaMontagne & Keegel 2012). In this review, you are required to research the academic literature to identify four or five peer-reviewed journal articles that report evidence on reducing or managing workplace stress. Do not use government reports or other website material. You may approach this from a general perspective, or you may like to restrict your research to a particular occupation (e.g. social work) or workplace (e.g. hospital, institution). ? In your review you will need to demonstrate your understanding of the hierarchy of research evidence (discussed in the unit). ? You review needs to focus on evidence that is relevant for health professional practice. ? You will need to describe your search strategy (e.g. which databases and search terms you used to obtain your papers) and identify the articles selected with reference to the hierarchy of research evidence. ? You will then review the evidence, comparing and contrasting each article. This is often prepared in a table, listing findings, strengths and limitations of each article. The information from this table is then used to write the evidence in your review. (NB. The table is not to be included in the literature review, but may be included as an appendix that will not be marked). ? You will then write the review, synthesising the evidence as a body of work (i.e.do not write the findings from each journal article in separate paragraphs). ? You will then make key recommendations based on your review of the literature. ? It is expected that you will use other literature to support statements made in your literature review in addition to your 4-5 selected articles.
