The proposal should provide an outline of the problem and recommend one public health nutrition approach to address it, based on the available evidence. The proposal comprises three parts, as outlined below. Part A  State the problem In this section clearly articulate the problem at the state/national level and explain why it is an important issue to consider. This should start with a clear definition of the public health nutrition issue and the context of this proposal (i.e the population group and the country/state you will focus on). This section should also cover in relation to your chosen topic, country/state, and population group: • The prevalence of the issue • The causes and/or determinants of the issue. • The consequences of the issue. This section needs to be supported by appropriate references such as peer-reviewed journal articles and reports from reputable organisations. Part B  Proposed public health nutrition approach Recommend one PHN approach that you believe the government or non-government agency should adopt in the next three years to address the issue. This should include a succinct description of what the approach is followed by a clear justification for your recommendation. This should include consideration of: • Strength of the evidence for effectiveness (may also include cost-effectiveness) • Equity • Acceptability (e.g to government, industry, public) • Feasibility or sustainability You should aim to read widely on your chosen topic area in order to decide on one PHN approach to recommend.
