Learning Assessment
General Information
The total exam will be marked out of 100 marks and will be worth 25% of your final mark for the subject:
- During the exam you are allowed to access any HSTM1001 content provided or linked to on the Moodle, including lectures, topic readings and computer lab files.
- If you navigate away, or close the window/browser, after starting any part of the exam, the countdown will continue - so if you exit any part of the exam for any reason, make sure you get back in and finish each part before having a break.
- You will NOT have the ability to reopen and edit any exam part after it has been submitted.
- Open attempts will be automatically submitted at XXX am/pm AEDT.
Please ensure you begin each part of the exam in a place with consistent internet connectivity and free of interruptions.
Exam Specific Information
This is a timed Exam - Please note that you will have a maximum of 90 minutes to complete & submit this part.
The number of marks for each question is indicated in the question, for example:
- The final online exam will display one question per page.
- Where a question has multiple parts, the number of marks per part will be indicated in each part of the question.

- Do not rely on looking things up - this will waste valuable time in the exam! Instead, it is recommended that students prepare two double-sided A4 pages of handwritten notes.
- You can use a scientific calculator, jamovi and R, and we recommend pens, pencils & paper for workings.
- You will not be required to use R or jamovi to complete this exam. However, you will be asked to interpret R/jamovi output and identify correct/incorrect R
commands.
- You will not be required to upload your workings for any questions.
- During the exam, you are allowed to navigate back and forth from one question (page) to another as much as you like. However, you only have 1 attempt at the final online exam. Therefore only submit your solutions when you are confident that y are finished with all the questions.
- Once you have submitted your solutions you won't be able to access the final online exam again.
- In some cases, depending on the method used to answer the question, there may be slight differences in the final answer due to rounding. Where this is the case, a small tolerance has been included to allow for small discrepancies.
- Where numeric answers are required, provide your answers as
numbers without using "%" or "$" symbols.
- Open attempts are submitted automatically.
- Unless otherwise stated, assume a significance level of a=0.05α = 0.05 where relevant.
