How does colonial patriarchal capitalism dispossess, repress, and displace peoples and communities, in different contexts as analyzed by the authors in the assigned readings below? Please do not forget that these structures of domination, destruction, and exploitation are never complete because racialized and colonized yet resilient dignified peoples have resisted in myriad of ways, including survival.

Paul Farmer (2005) shows that the global structural violence of poverty-exploitation, racism, patriarchalism, militarism, etc., causes unspeakable levels of daily suffering in the countless concrete lives of those racialized, colonized and exploited. Martinez Salazar observes that historical and current global structural violence constitute intentional logics of physical, mental, legal, and psychological destruction (lecture notes 2023). Applying one specific yet relevant full point and an example from each of the assigned sources below, please elaborate on the

ways in which excluded yet dignified peoples, understand and resist the interconnected logics of destruction imposed on their lives through global structural violences? Because after all, their struggles are not only for their territories and themselves, but for humanity and the planet. Use this quote from Ernesto (in Reed and Brandow, 1996:85) as a point of departure:

“One of the characteristics of the Indigenous population is that with much creativity and with initiative it has managed to survive. One could say that with resistance, not allowing ourselves to die out, we’ve managed to bring out culture with us to this moment in time. Mayan culture hasn’t disappeared; it isn’t relegated to history. Although there is an effort to make it disappear, here we are, the children of the Mayan heritage. Here we are wanting to retain and develop out own culture. For five hundred yeas, we have been subjugated. This is the reason for our struggle, why we suffer now and can't have a stable life” Reed and Brandow, 1996:85.
