• Form groups of 2 or 3 students and register them on Blackboard. If you can’t manage to form a group of 2 or 3 students, use the Blackboard forum to find other group members. 

• Choose one business process from the list in Section 3. 

• Model your chosen process: 

– Describe the process textually. Briefly explain the type of process (e.g. order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, issue-to-resolution), the customer, actors and business objects involved, outcomes of the process, the value delivered to the customer, and the control flow of the process. 1 

– Model the process in BPMN 2.0. 

∗ Model the process from the perspective of the organisation.

∗ Include swimlanes (at least 2) and artefacts and model external parties as black boxes.

∗ Extend or shrink the process such that it contains around 40 - 50 BPMN ele- ments and several non-standard control-flow constructs, such as message events, OR-gateways or event-based gateways.

∗ Make sure that the model and the textual description match and that model is syntactically and behaviourally correct.

∗ We recommend to use a modelling tool such as Signavio, Microsoft Visio or Omni- graffle to draw the model, but it’s up to you. – Keep track of design decisions and assumptions. 

• Write a report according to Section 4.
