Description: The major project will require students to provide and present an integrated Cloud design proposal for iGov Service Delivery Cloud:
− A refined Cloud business model (from assignment part A) providing the functional business model canvas, with business scope, business capabilities, roles, design principles, and supportive examples.
− A logical systems architecture which provides a solution ‘blueprint’ for the Cloud business model.
− Three risks areas and ways in which risks can be mitigated.
The proposal will require students to demonstrate their understanding of the business model, its design principles and the support of the design principles based on 8 requirements for the IT system provided in this assignment part.

Refinement of business model: The proposal will also require students to apply concepts taught through the unit’s business model lectures, focussed on business model design principles (lecture 5). These design principles were a part of Assignment Part A. However, they apply in this assignment because students can change/refine their design principles given different requirements for the IT systems provided this part of the assignment. This will allow students to develop skills to present Cloud proposals which integrate both business model and systems architecture concepts.

Development of logical systems architecture in FMC modelling : The bulk of the work will involve the systems architecture based on concepts taught through the unit’s
Cloud systems architecture lectures (lectures 7 and 8) focussed on modelling LOGICAL systems architectures using FMC (Fundamental Modelling Concepts) only. Physical systems architecture is out of scope in the assignment.

Assignment Task - This assignment is the ‘major project’ for developing Cloud-based systems architectures for a “Business in the Cloud”, which will allow you to bring together key learning of Cloud business models and architectures, as taught in the unit. Outlined in a separate document is further information about the iGov case, including specific IT systems requirements not given to you previously.

After considering these requirements, and your initial ideas generated during the first assignment, it is your task to:

1. Provide an overall depiction of your Cloud business model, definitions of business scopes, business capabilities, partner roles, and descriptions of the design principles. Highlight which design principles your IT systems architecture (in 2) focusses on.

2. Translate the Cloud business model design principles (from 1) into a systems architecture using FMC modelling notation and indicate clearly how it supports the implementation of your selected design principles.
