Economics Management:
Choose a private (or public) organization and a region (usually a country) where it operates. The organization could be your own business, or a customer or a supplier or just a business in which you are interested. Make sure that the firm chosen has useful data available for investigation, and that you can find macroeconomic time-series data for the country/region where it is based. Conduct an economic
analysis of the firm, its markets and their wider macroeconomic context, addressing the following questions
Questions:
1. Analyze, with the support of macroeconomic data and economic theory, the fluctuations in economic growth in the relevant country (region) since the Great Recession (2008 onwards). How have the recent economic policies of the government affected the macroeconomy?
2. How have the organization’s profits (revenues, costs) changed since 2008? What strategies have been deployed to influence the business’ revenues and costs over this period? How does its performance compare with its competitors? Which market structure does the organization operate in? Can we assess price elasticity of demand?
3. Describe/predict the external prospects for the organization over the next two years by analyzing the organization’s exposure (revenues, costs) to past, current and future macroeconomic shocks in the country (region) in which it operates.
