The objective of this assessment is to assess your knowledge and performance in being able to install an operating system and configuring basic supported hardware.

This is a project-based assessment that assesses your knowledge and performance of the unit.

The assessment is in two parts:

• Installation Report
• Optimisation Report

Specific Task Instructions

The instructions and the criteria in the tasks and activities below will be used by the Teacher/Assessor to determine if you have satisfactorily completed this assessment event. Use these instructions as a guide to ensure that you demonstrate the required knowledge and skills.

Record your participation and submit as video evidence. When submitting video evidence, you must:

1. provide a video clearly meeting all requirements listed below and in the Observation Checklist
2. ensure you have access to the equipment and resources required to participate in the demonstration.

Scenario

You are a new ICT Trainee employed at the ICT Systems Support Service Desk of Gelos Enterprises (GE).

As a trainee, you need to:

• Installing an operating system and configuring the computer hardware on a new system*
• Optimise an existing computer system to run more efficiently

In the reports that you will complete, the Required results column indicates GE’s requirement. You need to ensure that you have installed and configured the systems as per the organisational requirements.

Part 1: Installation Report

To complete this part of the assessment, you must complete a report that documents the completion of the task. You will need to take screen captures or photographs after completing each task as proof of completion (if indicated in the screenshot/Photograph column of the Report.)

Part 2: Optimisation Report
