(a) “Identifying the research problem is the first major step when conducting research.” There are some factors a researcher needs to consider when selecting a research area Justify 3 factors that you have used to select your research problem.

(b) Carry out a literature survey. ( You can use the resources from open university Emerald e-library available on the Elearn platform)

(i)     Select three journals in your chosen field. Examine the three journals for the past five years for research articles relevant to your area selected.
(ii)     Search and Shortlist around ten research papers or articles most relevant to your topic
(iii)     List the 3 journals selected and Justify your choice of journals clearly stating why you preferred them as compared to others that you have come across.

(c) (i) Read the articles selected and write down a possible title of your topic of research. 
(ii) Formulate a Problem Statement for your chosen topic. Ensure that the key characteristics of a statement of the problem are included in your statement. 
(iv)    Develop and articulate 3 research questions that are related to the purpose of the study 

(d) Write your literature review by following the steps below;  Select five research papers or articles among the ten shortlisted in part (b)
•    which are most relevant to your topic and carry out an exhaustive study. Write a comparative report of the research works studied in the five research papers. Draw your comparison as shown in the table below. Use your own words to summarise the works.

(e) Based on the critical analysis of methods in your comparative study, select the methods you will employ to answer your research questions. Justify your choice of methods. 

(f) Prepare a time table to manage your time bearing in mind the total available time for your project ( around 10 months). Be realistic about the time you would dedicate for each task.

(g) List any resources you would need.

(h) Submit soft copies of the 5 research papers/ articles studied in details and a soft copy of your assignment 

(i) List all the references ( ten research papers from the past five years that you have used and any other materials you have referred to). Use the Harvard referencing method.
