Each team should pick one of the datasets described by its members on week 1 and perform a complete classification or regression analysis using Classification and Regression Trees (CART).
1. Give a brief overview of the selected dataset and provide a link to the source (similar to assignment for week 1).
2. Specify a data analytics question or objective for your lab.
3. Explain your response variable and your explanatory variables (need more than 3 explanatory variables).
4. Specify any data preprocessing needed to use the selected dataset for analysis using CART.
5. Implement the algorithm. Make sure to include the following in the implementation:
5.1. A brief description of the software package and functions used
5.2. A discussion of your model selection approach and parameter values selected
5.3. Report the model
5.4. An evaluation of the quality of the model.
5.5. Would you recommend the model to answer your question and support decisions?
5.6. Regardless of the assessed quality, given an example of how the model would be used to answer the a specific prediction question.
6. Extra credit: compare the performance of your classification tree with either logistic regression classification or with linear regression). To obtain credit, the logistic/linear regression analysis should be complete.
7. APPENDIX:
7.1. Code or functions used for this assignment. For alternative software packages not using code, explain the functions used using screenshots of menus and input forms.
7.2. Print-screens of output from software when using the functions.
