Based on the previous studies, we have identified the research gap. First, most previous research, has focused on the locally-based companies to check the impact of their political connections on performance. Minimal studies are available on the issue while having the focus on multinational companies. Second, in developing countries. although the issue has been highlighted but not conclusive due to disparities of rules, regulations, norms, political environments, and many other factors. Multinational companies operate in the host countries through their subsidiaries. Hence, they must follow the host country's regulations, opt for their culture, and take care of the local norms and ethics. So, it might be interesting that how these companies get the political benefits while having local limitations. Third, studies have adopted different ways and methods to measure the political connectivity of companies (government ownership, politician or ex-government employee inboard and state-owned companies, etc.) and the performance of companies. The previous studies measured these political connections through government ownership or having a political person inboard or part of management at different posts. However, we take only one specific type of political connection and analyze and explain its impact on performance

Research Objectives.

The core objective of our study is to analyse the impact of political connections on the performance in context of India and Pakistan. For political connection we have taken one of the types of political connections. In this specific type we call those companies as politically connected having at least one member in their board, having the politician. In this context we have selected subsidiaries of MNCs related to food and beverages industry, currently operating in these counties. Some of these MNCs are local based operating in different countries but we take only the data of subsidiaries. So, we also aim at comparing the performance of subsidiaries  taken in sample. So, to be more specific following are the main objectives of our dissertation.

These key objectives is

➢ To examine the impact of having politician in board, on financial performance of subsidiaries.

➢ To analyse and compare the financial performance of local based subsidiaries with the rest of subsidiaries taken in sample.
