Purpose

Inefficiency and waste are barriers to the delivery of patient-centred care. While addressing inefficiencies and waste is a powerful driver for change, implementing change is difficult. The purpose of this activity is to consider whether and how proposed solutions are implemented, and if not, why.

Task

1. The paper by Blecher et al (2020) highlights the ways in which the impacts of COVID-19 pandemic have highlighted challenges in our healthcare system and ways in which rapid reform has occurred.

2. Reflect on your experience working in health care- have strategies been implemented to address the challenges highlighted in the paper, and if so, what sorts of changes did they lead to?

3. Compose a critical reflection  on your personal experience of being involved in a workplace change initiative.

4. You are asked to link your reflection to your knowledge of multi-facets of change supported by content covered in Week
