1. 1. Stap 1: codebook

 Import the collected data into an SPSS codebook (.sav file). Make sure the codebook contains all (and only) relevant data. Also place the correct measurement level with each variable, adjust the number of decimal places etc. if necessary and code the multiple choice questions. Then check the codebook for errors. In other words, make sure the codebook is complete and correct.

Your dataset should consist of 2 major parts:

- Part 1: personal data about the respondent (such as age and gender)

- Part 2: variables related to the chosen topic

What is expected of you now?

o Describe who participated in the study. Do this in terms of the (at least 3) personal characteristics of the respondents (from part 1 of your dataset). Construct a graph or table for each characteristic and discuss the results presented. If relevant, discuss the mean, variance, standard deviation, representativeness compared to the population, etc. (1/2 page per characteristic)

o Incorporate the multiple response question from your data set into one clustered bar graph. To do this, use your multiple response question as the dependent variable and choose an interesting independent variable of your own. Formulate the corresponding research question. Discuss the graph and formulate a conclusion.

o Next, formulate 2 more interesting research questions. Each research question should include both a dependent variable and an independent variable! Make sure the questions are useful and relevant to the analysis of the chosen topic. For each research question, make an analysis via descriptive and then inductive statistics. Descriptive Statistics: Create a graph OR a table and discuss it. Clearly state in your discussion what the dependent and independent variable is!!! Inductive Statistics: Apply the appropriate statistical test and discuss the result. Formulate a decision on the research question.

 Notice:

Only 3 of the 4 research questions may include a personal characteristic (from part 1 of your data set).

Involve all levels of measurement (scale, ordinal, and nominal) in the choice of variables

Make a conclusion for the population each time with the appropriate statistical test

Make sure you have enough variation in your output (types of tables - types of graphs)

Make sure you use the correct statistical population test!!!!

1. 3.  Step 3: Written Report

The report presents the results of your research in an organized and pleasant manner. You keep the following format:

- Introduction: briefly state what the report is about and in what context you have carried out this assignment (SPSS course);

- Personal characteristics: explain the results from part 1 of your dataset;

- Take turns discussing the 4+1 research questions. Include one output (table or graph) per research question in your report. You place this output in the text, between the research question and its discussion;

- Finally, formulate a conclusion (what do you learn from the analysis regarding your topic? Can you formulate recommendations?)     

- Please respect the expected amount of text! The required font is Corbel, point 11 with space 1.15. Print recto verso. Do not leave unnecessary white space in your report. Act environmentally conscious and do not use excess paper.

- You will hand over the report with 4 staples on the long side. No plastic wrap, no binding. Make sure the margin of your document is large enough so that everything remains legible after stapling.

Note: if you print in black and white, make sure the legends of the graphs remain legible. Instead of working with colors, work with certain types of shading. You may also print in color.
