Assignment Task

Description

You will be allocated to a group and given a topic. This will be provided to you in Assessment 2: Discussion in Week 1. This assessment provides you with an opportunity to use your research skills to build a strong argument and then present a topic on organisational behaviour.

Once you have been assigned a group and a topic, use the following steps to complete your group assessment.

Make contact with your group

Contact your group members and share contact information, then schedule a time to work on the assessment together. You should decide on a communication and file storage system such as Microsoft Teams to facilitate the group work in this project. Suggested discussion points on your first meeting include:

• Ensuring every team member has access to all shared information and schedules
• All team members have access to shared chat so no one misses out on any group discussions
• Each group member can communicate and update on a weekly basis a status update on their current task, and times you are not available due to work or external commitments
• Appoint a group leader that facilitates communication and submits the assessment.

Brainstorm and research as a group

Review the topic your group has been allocated and brainstorm ideas on this topic. Conduct further research to support your ideas and to build your presentation. You are expected to find appropriate sources of information to support or inform your ideas. You are required to provide at least five academic, authoritative or industry sources:

• Credible peer-reviewed sources such as business journals (listed in the unit outline), literature reviews and textbooks
• Official government and non-government websites, data and reports.

All sources used in your academic work must be acknowledged by referencing. Wherever you discuss, summarise, paraphrase or quote, you must provide a reference. Please use a consistent style for all in-text citations and your reference list. Note that research is weighted at 50% of the overall grade for this assessment.

Create your presentation as a group

Once you have discussed your ideas and conducted appropriate research, write the script for your presentation together and design three slides to accompany it. As a team you should produce:

• A script that explains your topic and your findings
• A maximum of three slides to refer to during your presentation with minimal text and interactivity.

Once your presentation has been finalised, create an extra slide for your references:

• This additional slide for references is essential; please ensure all group member names are included on the reference list.

Record your presentation

Invite your group leader to record a five-minute video of your presentation. Use the following resources for examples of how to prepare and record a video presentation.

The group leader is then responsible for submitting the video URL in the submit section

Conduct a peer evaluation as a group

The final step of your presentation is a peer evaluation. This step requires you to reflect on your team’s performance. To do this, reflect on the following statements as a group, and record your answers on a separate document. This document also needs to be submitted along with your presentation slides and video.

The statements are:

• Our group tasks for this assessment were completed within the time frame allocated for this assessment.
• Our group has included a link to the video presentation.
• Our presentation includes references using APA 7 referencing style and we have correctly cited all sources and references in the reference list slide.
• Our group leader checked the Turnitin submission to ensure we have not plagiarised and we will be able to supply the process output if required by the lecturer to prove this is our own work (e.g. screenshot of my search and retrieval of journal articles)
• We submitted this assessment on time.

Prepare your submission

Only one person (your group leader) is required to submit this assessment. The group leader should submit the following:

• your three presentation slides (and your additional reference slide)
• a link to your video presentation
• your peer evaluation document
