The industry Project Report involves the student presenting a report to the industry partner that addresses the specification of their problem/issue/concern. The project report applies the analysis of the case study organization, the review of industry best practice literature and the framing of opportunities for practice improvement in one of more areas of contemporary management. A key aspect of the Industry Project Report is a one-page Executive Summary that succinctly presents the essential aspects of the industry project report. The Industry Project Report enables students to demonstrate they are able to , diagnose a specific aspect of the industry partner’s organization, search, find and analyse industry best practice research literature and apply it and any data collected on the industry partner’s organization to a contemporary challenge in that organization. The Industry Project Report has a prescribed structure and must have a suitable cover page, an Executive Summary, an Introduction, Background, Discussion, Findings and Conclusions and Recommendations Section. A visual of the structure of the report is provided in Figure 1 below.

The Executive Summary provides a succinct summary of the essential aspects of the Industry Project Report. The Introduction Section introduces the reader to the purpose of the report, scopes the assignment, introduces the industry partner’s organization, defines any key terms and concepts used and presents a line of argument relating to some of the key strategic imperatives that should be reflected in the industry partner’s organization’s strategies to enable it to effectively sustain improvement in its business transformation process.

The Background Section presents a brief analysis of key features of the industry partner’s organization that are perceived to shape its capacity to transform its business processes and where necessary its workforce. In the Discussion Section you present the results of your data analysis and your literature review. You are required to identify and explain the rationale behind the opportunity for practice improvement in relation to one or more key areas of the case study organization’s capability in such as way that would allow it to effective transform an aspect of the organization and improve its organizational performance is a sustainable manner in the future. Note: if the student has collected data in relation to the Industry Project this data and its analysis may be presented in a discrete section of the report or integrated into the Discussion Section
