Background

You will work on the following fictional scenario: You have been approached by a researcher, who has written their Proposal and has been advised to attach a Data Management Plan (DMP) to comply with the university's data management policy. They have been given a DMP template to use and need help understanding data management in relation to their research, and then how to fill out the template.
During the consultation session the researcher asks you about:
The benefits for preparing a DMP and how s/he can make the best use of the plan in relation to their research project.
The exact sections of the DMP that apply to the proposal, so that s/he has an understanding of areas to focus on; and areas to potentially exclude.
Any recommendations and advice that you might have for completing each section of the DMP that is relevant to the project proposal.
Task
Your supervisor has requested a 2000 word report from you on the work you did with the researcher. The report needs to:
Document the support that you have offered to the researcher for completing a DMP;
Include details of the advice, recommendations and suggestions that you made to the researcher in relation to the DMP for the research Proposal;
Provide a sample statement that answers one of the following sections of the DMP template for the researcher:
Intellectual property
File formats and standards
Storage and backup during the project
Sharing and reuse
Retention, archiving and disposal
Be supported with scholarly and professional literature, cited using APA 6.
