Network upgrade proposal for the organisation 

 One solution that includes a detailed description of the following: requirements analysis, technologies to be purchased and why it is suitable for this organisation, cost analysis, work scope, timelines, implementation schedule plan, assumptions and risks for each solution. Give your final recommendations. 

Disaster recovery plan and Business Continuity Plan for the organisation 

 Outline appropriate systems to be put in place for the company to deal with a disasters, e.g. security attacks and natural disasters. Include disaster indicators, staff roles, technology used for disaster recovery, damage assessment and forensics. 

There needs to be references to at least 15 articles. These articles do not have to be peer reviewed. Carefully reference any material obtained from external sources using APA referencing. Case study Scenario 

As the senior network engineer you are asked to asked to evaluate the IT network and equipment at an educational institute and create a network upgrade proposal, business recovery plan and disaster recovery plan. The current network of this organisation consists the following: 

1. A student hub where students can do assignments and access the internet. It has the following equipment: 

• 200 running Windows7 

• 50 Apple Macs 

• Servers: Windows server 2008 DC, DHCP, proxy 

• WLAN capability with 35 access points 

• 2 printers 

2. Four student specialist IT labs (used in class to teach IT courses, e.g. networking, databases, software development and multi-media). They have the following equipment: 

• 1 lab: 20 Macs with a data projector 

• 3 labs: A total of 60 Windows10 PCs running and one 60-inch plasma TVs in each 

• Servers: Linux LDAP server, DHCP, pfsense proxy, Oracle Database server 

• WLAN capability with 5 access points 

• 4 printers 

 

3. Staff network: 

• 300 PCs running Windows7 

• 50 staff laptops 

• WLAN capability with 20 access points 

• Servers: Windows server 2012 DC, DHCP, Moodle, exchange, Linux proxy, Linux servers, 

• 3 printers 

• Phones for each staff member 

 

4. These networks are spread across 4 buildings with a maximum distance of 1 km between them and are interconnected by: 

• Cisco 3500XL Switches x 10 

• Cisco 1921 Routers x 10 

• 3 server racks
