1. Exercise - Carry out a structured Innovation and New product Development Exercise in your chosen area, or on chosen theme as per the frameworks and processes covered in the module. The exercise could be carried out till the phase of planning for implementation. The key frameworks - captured in the formats, with guidelines, are enclosed for ready reference in this PowerPoint deck.
2. Scope of choices of areas for exercise – The participant individually could choose any possible business, product, service, software or app, or ‘experience business’ idea.. Similarly, the participant individually can focus the exercise on ‘for profit businesses’ or ‘noble-minded societal impact business’. The participant can choose to limit their exercise only to product or service and not extend scope to comprehensive business idea. The chosen domain has no bearing on the evaluation or the scores that individual can obtain.
3. You could follow the typical steps for Innovation and new product development for realising a breakthrough business as covered in the sessions. You could use the chosen set of formats from the comprehensive process covered in the section 12 of the handout already given to you.

A.)Evaluation criteria –

I) Demonstration of the application of concepts, ‘innovative thinking approaches’ systematic process and frameworks covered in the classes

II) Highlighting of the creative aspects, if any, like intuition, inspiration from past, synthesis of ideas, inventive solution elements etc.,

III) Level of uniqueness of the idea

IV) Demonstration of the ability to identify and address the inherent risk involved in the new product / business idea

V) evidence of some level of connect of the innovation with the current context, socio-cultural realities, user problems - experienced, researched or derived - from current situation etc.

VI) Learning from carrying out this exercise. It is not likely that a participant would be able to demonstrate or show evidence of all the above aspects in their submission. It is sufficient if the participant meets any 3/4 of the above criteria.

Meeting more than this threshold would sure gain higher levels of exceptional credit.
