Detailed Equipment Design Report

Ability to:

1. Synthesize the design of a specific sub-part of a process, set this in the context of the whole process, specify the design objectives and constraints, and justify the choice of equipment items;

2. Carry out the detailed chemical engineering design of a major item of equipment & ancillaries

3. Identify, explain and justify assumptions used in making design calculations;

4. Carry out sensitivity analysis for key design parameters, and a formal optimization using an objective function and specific constraints;

5. Carry out preliminary mechanical design of a major item of (non-standard) equipment;

6. Produce detailed specification sheets for plant items;

7. Identify the required control strategy for the satisfactory and safe operation of a specific sub- part of a whole process, and show this on a Piping & Instrumentation Diagram.

8. Estimate capital and operating costs for a specific sub-part of a whole process;

9. Present a standalone report that communicates detailed equipment design work.
