(a) The meter constant of a 230V, 10A watthour meter is 1800 revolutions per kWh. The meter is tested at half load and rated voltage, unity power factor. The meter is found to make 80 revolutions in 138 seconds. Determine the meter error at half load.
(b) A 230V, 40A load of 0.4 power factor, is connected for an hour and the energy meter makes 360 revolutions. Find the percentage error if the design of the energy meter is to make 100 revolutions for 1kWh.
(c) A 240V watthour meter has meter constant of 600 revolutions per kWh. Find the speed of the disc for a current of 10A at 0.8 pf lag. 6. Solve the following questions based on extension in range of meters: (3X2)
(a) A moving coil instrument of resistance 5 ohm requires a potential dierence of 75mV to give full scale deection. What should be the value of resistance needed to give a full scale deection at 75V?
(b) An ammeter of internal resistance 20 ohm can measure current upto 25mA. How can it be used to measure current of 100mA?
(c) A moving coil instrument of resistance 5 ohm requires a current of 15mA to give full scale deection. What should be the value of resistance needed to give a full scale deection at 15V?
