Background / Scenario

The router Central, ISP cluster, and the Web server are completely configured. You must create a new IPv4 addressing scheme that will accommodate 4 subnets using the 192.168.0.0/24 network. The IT department requires 25 hosts. The Sales department needs 50 hosts. The subnet for the rest of the staff requires 100 hosts. A Guest subnet will be added in the future to accommodate 25 hosts. You must also finish the basic security settings and interface configurations on R1. Then, you will configure the SVI interface and basic security settings on switches S1, S2, and S3.

Instructions

IPv4 Addressing

  • Use 168.0.0/24 to create subnets that meet the host requirements.

Question 3

This question gives you the opportunity to configure and test a network involving both IPv4 and IPv6 address schemes using Cisco’s Packet Tracer network simulator. Make sure to include a reference to the version of Packet Tracer you used at the end of your answer to this question.

Task 1

  • Download the Packet Tracer Skills Integration Challenge Lab, which you will find in Introduction to Networks Module 17 – section 17.8.2. It is recommended that you also download the associated instructions along with the Packet Tracer file for this lab. These instructions are in pdf format and they must not be included with your final submitted answer.

    Task 2

    Note: do not alter or delete any of the configuration commands or addresses already set up in any of the devices in this network as this will stop your solution from working as expected. Of course, you will have to add commands and addresses to the existing configurations. If you do accidentally change any existing configuration, you can use the Reset Activity button, circled in Figure 1, to start over again. However, if you do this all your existing work will be lost, so it is a good idea to back up your work regularly and go back to an earlier version if you think that you have changed the configuration accidentally.

    It is worth keeping a copy of the commands that you use in a notepad (text editor) document to reduce stress in case of any configuration issues on Packet Tracer.

    Task 3

    Follow the supplied instructions in the PT file to complete a copy of the Addressing Table shown in Table 1. You can download a Word file. You should include this table in your answer, but do not supply a separate file; instead copy it into your answer.

    Task 4

    Complete the lab as described, making sure that you use exactly the same passwords and other case sensitive information; failure to do so may mean that your tutor will be unable to view your configuration. Your completion score will be displayed in the activity window, shown in Figure 1. You may use the Check Results button to show what you have achieved and to see what you still need to do.

    Task 5

    Include screenshots from each PC showing the results of pinging the appropriate ‘Web’ server address. Also, include a screenshot from each PC showing the results of entering the appropriate URL into the web browser – proving the operation of the DNS server also running on the ‘Web’ server, as well as your correctly configured end-to-end connectivity.

    Do not worry if all of the network isn’t working; you will still gain some credit for this Task for correct use of the PC commands. You must ensure that your screenshot includes which PC is being used (shown at the top of the device window).

    Note: you cannot ping from an IPv4 network to an IPv6 network as the appropriate configuration commands have yet to be configured to allow both address schemes to be used together. These commands will be covered elsewhere in this module at a later date.

    Include in your answer the version of Packet Tracer used in this question. Once you have completed as much of the activity as you can (remember that you can always contact your tutor for advice), save it and zip up a copy of your file along with your answer document and send it to your tutor using the online TMA/EMA service.     Task 1

    Download the Packet Tracer – Inter-VLAN routing Challenge which you will find in Switching, Routing and Wireless Essentials Chapter 4 Section 4.5.1. It is recommended that you also download the associated instructions along with the Packet Tracer file for this lab.     Task 2
