Highlights
1. Discussion with teacher about client scenario
The immigration advice firm you work for has an online booking system for 10-minute, free initial consultations. New clients self-register their preferred timeslot. They fill in a short form with some personal data. They write about why they want to have a consultation. When they hit the submit button, a Consumer Guide and an automated email is generated. The email explains the role of Registered Migration Agents.
Clients are told about client confidentiality; that the RMA is a professional Immigration Advisor that works in the client’s best interests; that Immigration Advisors do not work for the Department of Home Affairs; and that the advisor cannot make (or influence) the decisions. The email asks if an interpreter is required. When the consultation booking is made, everyone in the firm gets an email with the contents of the new client’s enquiry.
It is Friday afternoon, just after 4pm. You get the following information sent to your email inbox. It is your turn to handle the enquiry. The prospective client has booked you for an initial consultation next week.
i. Discuss Tu’s scenario with your teacher and answer your teacher’s questions. Explain what questions you need to ask Tu, what questions Tu might ask you, and the advice that you will provide to her.
