In week 5, we learned several digital disruptions caused by the emerging technology specifically artificial intelligence technology, such as Siri in Apple, Data Mining in a business application, natural language processing in customer service chatbot and even smart car proposed by Tesla. It is time now for you to do digital disruption analysis in this fast-growing technology.

Same as in assessment 3, you are required to undertake a literature review about the business specifically who has applied artificial technology, and further analyse and evaluate the digital disruption it has initiated.

To improve your analysis skill in evaluating the impacts of the disrupting technology, you are encouraged to choose an emerging technology recently, not more than 6 years as we know that technology is growing exponentially. You may use technology explained in week 5 if you want. Please be advised that your focus is on the technology embedded in product/service. For example, you need to investigate ‘data mining’ technology applied in Target rather than ‘Target’ company itself (this case study can be found in Topic 5).

To make sure that you choose the right one, you must consult your proposed topic with Renae and get the approval by Week 6 via email. You won’t be able to change the topic before getting the new approval. In this assignment, you don’t need to post your topic selection and structure of literature review on Blackboard as you did in assessment 1.

Your report should contain four main sections :

1. Section 1: Business background

Explain the background of the selected business clearly and comprehensively, investigating who they are, what services they provide, what is their market or target, what are they competitive advantages and how they provide those services. You may also discuss, using theory, why the services have likely emerged successfully and accepted by the market.

2. Section 2: Digital disruption analysis (Impact of an emerging technology)

Provide your deep analysis of the impacts of the emerging technology which disrupts the current industries by applying the theory comprehensively. You may also predict the potential digital disruption in future. Explain how digital disruption innovation can engage with existing market or even create a new market and how they market their value to the market. Define how best to respond to the challenges and opportunities that disruption offers.

3. Section 3: Challenges and opportunities offered by the emerging technology in future

Discuss the potential challenges and opportunities of the emerging technology in future. You may discuss the future trend, development or critical issue of the artificial intelligence technology
