Iris promised her son Jim that if he refrained from smoking and drinking until he was 21, she would buy him a sport car. Iris asked her solicitor to write a contract with the terms agreed with Jim. Jim has just turned 21 but Iris refuses to buy the car, saying that Jim’s abstinence has been good for his health.
Jim gets upset and goes out to buy a car himself, and after he signs the contract with the seller, he asks for new car stereo to be included in the car. The seller agrees, but on delivery, there is no new stereo in the car. Jim wants to sue his mother and also the seller of the car for breaches of contract.
Advise Jim as to his position in relation to Iris, and also in relation to the seller of the car.
