Task: Introduction This document contains some notes and thoughts to help you with your major assignment in ISYS1000- Introduction to Business Information Systems. In particular, it has been prepared to help “fully online” students who do not have the benefit of the course’s workshop discussions – where case-studies and examples can be discussed. 1. Understanding the Task The assignment uses the process of data modeling to achieve the task of describing a specific Information System (IS), so we need to understand: (1) some of the basic concepts of the information system and (2) what a data model is. The assignment for ISYS1000 requires you to use the Information Systems Description Framework (ISDF) to describe an information system that you choose from your own world (e.g. from your work, home, community, or elsewhere) or a new information system you are proposing.
