Rationale

In this assignment you will model the tasks that a system analyst goes through in order to produce a requirement report. This includes analysing a business need, developing a plan and constructing various models. This task will assess the content in the first three modules of this unit, and give you an opportunity to build and practice skills that you will use both in future units and in industry.

Task Description

Your task for this assessment will be to develop a document that will enable your client (the organization) to make an informed choice between options for a new or improved information system.

Part A of this document (Assignment 1) is an initial investigation to enable the client to decide whether to proceed with the project. You will outline the first few steps in a report to a business or organization in order to demonstrate your skills in:

• Analysing the business needs and deciding what information system is required;
• Creating a System Vision Document; 
• Developing a risk analysis and preliminary cost-benefit analysis for the new or improved system.

The report includes (but is not limited to) the following sections: 

1. short background information and description of the area of the organization.
2. Organization Chart for the organization.
3. System Vision Document
4. Project Management (create tasks in Jira)
5. Risk Analysis (5 risks and their likelihood of happening, shown in a matrix)
6. Cost-Benefit Analysis (3 techniques to decide whether it is economically feasible to progress with the project.
