Your first group task is to plan for an innovative business venture that relies on emerging technology as a key success in developing their product or being the product itself OR delivering their service or the service itself.

Once all your group members agree on the venture, you all need to work on a single business proposal.

The business proposal should be based on a NEW business and innovation idea. It would help if you described your business plan by applying the knowledge you obtained from the unit contents and included a Business Model Canvas and Concept Illustration/Drawing to support your plan.

You can choose any emerging technology scope suitable to complete this task. The idea of this business proposal can be derived from Assignment 1, but it is not mandatory.

Some ideas for emerging technology scope:

• robotics
• drones
• artificial intelligence (AI)
• machine learning
• online media streaming
• internet of things (IoT)
• real-time processing, rendering or applications
• augmented reality (AR) /virtual reality (VR) hardware or applications
• another scope (check with your tutor)

Your business proposal must include:

1. Key innovation idea:

Propose a new business idea that involves innovation in one of the scopes mentioned above. The idea needs to be new, or if existing, it needs to have some new features/ideas with the proposed business.

If you borrow an existing idea, you will have to discuss how your proposed idea is different (what is new in your idea) with the support of references.

2. Business Model Canvas

Create a business model canvas for your proposed business (You can use the ‘Stragyzer Business Model Canvas’ template or any other relevant template).

Your canvas must include all the nine (9) components (e.g., customer segment, key activities).

You must list key points in the canvas template for each component. Use a separate file (word or PDF) for the canvas since you might need to use the ‘Landscape’ layout.

3. Description of Business Model Canvas

Describe each point of your business model canvas (the nine building blocks) and justify your points. The overall presentation of the business model canvas and its discussion should have professional quality. Include this description in the report.

4. Concept Illustration/Drawing and Description

Provide visualisation for your proposed product or service and how it will be used.

Examples:

1. If you propose a new type of drone for delivery service, you need to show the proposed drone technology's concept drawing and the illustration of the drone performing the delivery of the item as the proposed plan.
2. If you propose a new type of headset, you need to show the headset's concept drawing, the illustration of someone wearing them, and maybe the user view.
3. Teamwork

You must work on this portfolio as a team. The evidence of teamwork needs to be recorded by providing a list or description of tasks completed by each team member.

Task Description:

Your main task is to prepare and record your business pitch (presentation) for the business plan your group submitted for Assignment 2. You are permitted to make minor adjustments to the previous plan.

For learning resources and tips in preparing for a pitching presentation, such as what to include in your pitch deck (slides), please refer to Module 5: Planning a business pitch.

You are also required to add ethical and socio-economic considerations (see Module 6) to your proposed business venture and include them in your business pitch

Your business pitch must consist of, but is not limited to, the following elements:

• Business Model Canvas

You need to explain each of its nine (9) components

• Concept Illustration/Drawing
• Ethical and Socio-Economic Considerations
• Finally, provide a conclusion on whether you see any gap that can be addressed or if this case study has inspired you to think of a new idea.
