  3. The code features that could be implemented to ensure the risk of accidental loss of data is minimised

Explain and evaluate the bottom-up technique of Normalization for designing the database to support all the functionality needed for the Dig Brother case study; compare and contrast the bottom-up technique with the top-down technique (Entity-Relationship Modelling) and explain when you would use Normalization and why.

Create an interface design for the Find Recording component of the system. Your design should be a drawn representation of the proposed interface, clearly showing the layout and type of controls you intend to use (you should label any controls that don’t come with an obvious textual element). The design diagram should be accompanied by a table which contains a full list of all the controls that make up the Find Recording form, specifying their type, the name each control will be known by within the code (the Name property) – which must conform to object naming standards – and a brief summary of the control’s intended purpose within the application and its default setting: how it should appear when the program is first shown to the user.

Describe an additional substantive software feature for the application (NOT a database or Internet-based component) which would be of use to the Dig Brother application but is not currently mentioned in the case study. A ‘substantial’ feature would be one that provides an additional piece of functionality requiring an additional custom class, substantive additional code and/ or two or more new interface elements. A single additional checkbox or an about dialog would not count as substantial. Discuss the purpose and value of the new feature, including a diagram of any new interface elements it may require or descriptions of any additional class objects the application would need to support the additional feature. You should also indicate any objects from the common code library your proposed feature would require.
