Scenario You have been hired by LUCMAT Ltd and your supervisor has assigned to you the task of extending the company existing LAN which incorporated three departments as follows:

Discuss the benefits and constraints of different network types and standards. A network topology is referred to as the shape of how the computers and other network components are connected to each other. Explain the impact of network topology, communication and bandwidth requirements. Protocols and standards make networks works together;in most cases a network allows computers of different types to intercommunicate using a network protocol. Consider the benefits and constraints of common networking principles and how protocols enable the effectiveness of networked systems. Considering a given scenario, classify the topology protocol selected for the efficient utilisation of a networking system. LO2 Explain networking devices and operations A Server is a computer system that provides and manages shared network resources such as files, printers, e-mail, Web pages. Explain the operating principles of networking devices and server types. At the same time, discuss the interdependence of terminal hardware in conjunction with relevant software. Two primary goals drive networking design and implementation: Application availability, Cost of ownership. Explore a range of server types and justify the selection of a server, considering a given scenario regarding cost and performance optimisation. LO3 Design efficient networked systems Networking devices must reflect the specifications of the organizations in which they operate. Design a networked system to meet a given specification. To check the robustness your network, introduce some invalid inputs to observe the results that would be obtained. Test and evaluate the design to meet the requirements and analyse user feedback and justify your choice of devices for your network design. Prepare a step-by-step installation plan and configure network services and applications of your designed network. Produce a maintenance schedule to support the networked system. LO4 Implement and diagnose networked systems After identifying the cause of a problem, the next step is to come up with a possible solution (or workaround) to that problem, and plan an implementation scheme. Implement a networked system based on a prepared design. Usually, implementing a possible solution involves making changes to the network. Document and analyse test results against expected results. Recommend potential enhancements for the networked systems (with reference to the above scenario). And finally, use critical reflection to evaluate own work and justify valid conclusions.
