This Competency Assessment assesses the following learning competency:
IT503-1: Evaluate the integral components of personal computing for the IT professional.
Technology Careers and Basics of Computing
Purpose
The assessment consists of 3 parts. Part 1 of the assessment will require you to explain the differences between IT certifications and degrees. In Part 2 and Part 3, You will explain and evaluate major computer components and software of personal computing for the IT professional.
Assessment Instructions
Provide the following in an APA paper. Write a descriptive subheading for each of the three main parts (without including any numbering). Employ logical paragraphing for new ideas and readability.
Part 1: Certification
This part of the assessment must be 170-270 words in length.
Part 2: Computer Components (Hardware)
This part of the assessment must be 500-600 words in length to ensure adequate detail. Use logical paragraphing for readability. Any source material used must be cited properly using APA standards.
Explain each of the following, including definitions and examples for each.
Part 3: Software
This part of the assessment must be 230-330 words in length. Any source material used must be cited properly using APA standards.
Explain the purpose of each of these three kinds of software. Provide two examples of each and compare main features.
