Project requirements applicable for Phase:

• Project title must refer to a business process named using the “Verb + Object” convention applicable to all activities (processes, sub-processes and tasks) 
• The type of BPMN model to use is an orchestration process (see Topic 5, slide #14). Use lanes to show activities performed by different departments and/or process performers (aka roles) inside the organization.  When relevant, external participants (such as customers, suppliers, etc.) will be represented using pools but their activities do not need to be modeled (unless to comply with BPMN rules).      
• The business process must involve at least 3 different functions. The names of these functions depend on the organization (see Slide # 4 from Topic 2 for possible examples)
• The high-level AS-IS process (which shows the start, the end and key activities including all sub-processes) inside the organization must include at least 10 tasks, 3 sub-processes, 3 different gateways (or sets of split/merge gateways) and 3 intermediate events. Moreover:  
• Teams of 4 must model and define all 3 sub-processes from that high-level process
• Smaller teams must model and define 2 of the 3 sub-processes from that high-level process
• Each sub-process modeled must include at least 4 tasks involving at least 2 different roles 
• Models should use BPMN shapes with relevant markers (focus on those covered in class only)
• The project must implement the 6 most relevant BPR principles, including the VITRIFY principle
• This requirement must apply first and foremost to process managers (see definition of BPM)
• The number of IS (or modules if using an ERP) required for the TO-BE process is 4:
• At least three (3) departmental (aka functional) IS or at least 3 modules in the case of ERPs
• The BPMS: Normally, a BPMS is required (even if the case study doesn’t refer to one).  If a BPMS is not required, team must explain why and how the VITRIFY principle is implemented
• With regards to references used in Phase 2 and Phase 3, teams must refer to at least 1 peer-reviewed article (if needed, additional articles don’t need to be peer-reviewed).  

Evaluation : 

• Meeting overall project requirements as detailed in Phase 2 and Phase 3
• Clarity and validity of description and model of both the AS-IS and the TO-BE processes
• Consistency between process descriptions, process models, and task-related tables 
• Proper comparative analysis covering all key metrics (see p.3, Section 6)
• Clear and complete specification and justification of ALL functional requirements
• Consistency across the project
• Feasibility of the overall solution (TO-BE process and required IS) 
• Appropriate use of references (articles) and of tools, methodology and steps presented in class
• Overall effort and overall quality of the report (no formatting issues, no missing files, no typos, etc.)
