Network Subnetting and Configuration Cloud Big Data Technologies has just established a new branch office in South-Africa, with the following departments; accounting, IT, investment, HR, guest and management departments. For proper communication within and outside the departments, a network topology was designed to enable such. As a network engineer, you have been consulted to subnet and configure the networking system of this organisation.

In this scenario, a network address of 201.32.1.0/24 has been provided to you. Your task is to subnet and provide the IP addressing for the network shown in the topology. You are required to provide enough space for each LAN connection in the network that will accommodate at least 9 addresses for end devices, the switch and the routers. The connection between R1 to R2, R1 to R3, and R2 to R3 will require an IP address for each end of the link.

Note that a Cisco Packet Tracer file must be submitted alongside the documented answers.

Subnet the 201.32.1.0/24 network into the appropriate/required number of subnets.

a. Using the network topology in Figure 1, how many subnets are needed? 
b. Determine the number of bits that must be borrowed to support the number of subnets in the topology table. 
c. Based on your answer is “b”, how many subnets does this create? 
d. What is the number of hosts per subnet with regard to the subnet created in “c”?
(Note: If your answer is less than the 9 hosts required, then you borrowed too many bits.) 
e. Calculate the binary value for the last five subnets. Assume the first subnet to be: Net 0: 201.31.1. 00000000. (5 Marks)
f. Determine the binary and decimal value of the new subnet mask.
