You are a newly appointed Junior Human Resource Manager for medium scale organisation with 1000 staff strength in Sri Lanka (if you are working in such organization you can use your own work or you can select an organization of your choice). Hence, you have been assigned with special task to develop the HR Department properly since the organisation has not focused on that for past 15 years and Managing Director identified the requirement of separate HR Department and importance of adopting best HR Practices to create better working environment. As your first task you are to review the effectiveness of the HR function within the organisation, researching the role and scope of HR and reviewing and assessing the main HR functions within the organisation. It is required to submit this as a case study report based on the following guidelines.
1. Brief analysis on the present situation of the company in relation to the HRM function including issues, drawbacks and threats etc.
2. Explain the purpose of the HR function and the key roles and responsibilities of the HR function & how it applicable in workforce planning and resourcing.
3. Critical evaluation on strengths and weaknesses of different approaches to recruitment and selection, providing specific examples.
4. Assessment on how the functions of HRM can support to provide & retain talented and skilled employees appropriately to fulfil business objectives.
5. Explain the benefits of different HRM practices within an organisation for both the employer and employee and Explore the different methods of HRM practices could use, providing specific examples in relation to the selected organisational context.
Critically Evaluate the effectiveness of HRM practices and application in terms of raising organisational profit and productivity using a range of specific example.
