ASSESSMENT DETAILS

1.1 Module Learning Outcomes (MLOs) Assessed by Coursework

1. Analyse the role of Building Information Modelling within the production management process.

2. Formulate solutions to design and production problems through a simulated project life cycle.

3. Justify and defend design or managerial choices made within the production process of a simulated project.

4. Apply disciplinary knowledge and multi-disciplinary skill to overcome complex problems of practice and identify appropriate solutions.

5. Reflect upon learning achieved within integrated collaborative environments.

1.2 Coursework Overview

• Depending upon the composition of the module cohort, you will be allocated to a disciplinary, interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary team by the tutor, and provided with a project site (the project details will be issued separately). Using BIM Methodology, your team will be required to produce a coordinated architectural, services, and structural design solution to meet the challenges of the simulated project.

• In this module, there are two interrelated components of assessment (Tasks 1 and 2). Task 1, detailed in this Assignment Specification is the submission of a Reflective Portfolio for your Integrated BIM Project. It is worth 70% of the module. It will be submitted and assessed electronically and it addresses all 5 Module Learning Outcomes. (Task 2 is detailed in a separate Assignment Specification and is the submission of an Academic Poster).

• It is important to note, that whilst the project is used as the learning vehicle in this module, it will be your reflections of the application of integrated BIM project working against peer-reviewed academic research that is actually assessed and not the quality of the design produced.

1.3 Coursework Tasks to be completed by Students

This reflective portfolio of evidence shall illustrate how you have collaborated and engaged with the project from the required discipline perspective. Your portfolio should be structured in such a way as to document, synthesise and use your independent research on integrated working, particularly in a BIM?enabled project environment. You should also reflect on this throughout, and on your project role to how you contributed toward the production of a collaborative project design solution.

TASK 1: The portfolio is to contain reflective evidence of:

1. The iterative cycle of the production of a BIM?enabled project design.

2. Collaborating with other professional disciplines at various stages of the development of your project.

3. Your methods of problem identification, communication, and problem-solving.

4. How options?analysis took place within the development of your BIM?enabled project design.

5. Your learning on integrated working in a BIM?enabled project.
