ABSTRACT:

Economic crime is one of the most serious crimes endangering the national security of a country. Corruption has become an issue of political and economic significance in recent time. This has brought back the desire to analyse the phenomenon and different forms of corruption in both develop and developing countries. It will also analyse how democracy and economic liberalisation will offer potential ways to dealing with the problem.

However; despite institutional reforms and international efforts to fight the menace, yet not much has been achieved.

My research will focus on key areas of corruption, such as money laundering which undermines the economic and financial stability of a nation with weaker regulatory bodies. It will also examine its impact on the economic advancement and how it undermines the effectiveness of public investment and international aids to developing countries with particular reference to Africa and Asia. Finally, it will also address policies put in place to combating corruptions.
