Law - Literature Review Writing Assessment Answer
TASK:
Write a Literature Review
This task is a 2000-word literature review. To assist you in this task, it is noted that
literature review commonly includes an introduction, a body and a conclusion.
Please consider these following notes on these sections as you write your review.
(1) Introduction
Your introduction ought to give a brief outline of:
? the topic and the research question – ie: you must state the research topic and the research question. Note: the assessment of these elements will form the basis of the approval of the research project as a whole;
? why the topic/research question is important – in legal research this includes a statement of the current law and the reason it warrants this research;
? the scope of this literature review;
? the criteria used for your literature selection (e.g. type of sources used, date range); and
? the organisational pattern/structure of this literature review.
(2) Main body
The main body ought to be organised in parts/sections/headings, each of which addresses a different theme that is relevant to your topic/question. Each part/section/heading ought to synthesise several of your reviewed readings to demonstrate a clear connection between the various sources. You are required critically to analyse each source for how it contributes to the themes you are researching.
The body could include, for example, a part/section/heading on historical background, methodologies, previous studies on the topic, principal questions being asked, and the general conclusions being drawn.
(3) Conclusion
Your conclusion ought to give a summary of:
? the main agreements and disagreements in the literature;
? any gaps or areas for further research; and
? your overall perspective and proposed future direction on the topic.
