Reflective Writing Assessment Answer

Assignment Task: Learning task - Provide an individual reflective analysis of your own experience working in a small group or your observation of the other groups’ dynamics to complete your report this semester. This piece of work should not identify individual students but rather focus on the dynamics of the group, what the experience has taught you about how you personally operate in small groups, and the way in which small groups operate overall. It should include a critical statement of your own learning within the process. Use your weekly entries from the (post active learning session) reflective journal you had throughout the semester.   In your reflection you should:
  • Identify 1-3 of the group's processes to focus upon and reflect how these operated in your group (e.g. group dynamics (communication and interaction patterns, cohesion, social control mechanisms and group culture) group roles, stages, decision-making processes, task and maintenance issues, conflict resolution strategies, leadership, communication, group norms, power etc.)
  • Link these to theoretical and reference material
  • Evaluate your own role within the group
  • Discuss if there is anything you would do differently next time
  • Discuss what you have personally learned about working in small groups
  • Show evidence of relevant reading
  • Present the material as a fully proofread, clearly written and adequately referenced piece of work
  • Write in the first or third person
Marking criteria: Completed and graded individually Please see attached marking rubric for specific assessment criteria.
