To develop your strategy, consider the team you lead or are a part of, with the focus on developing a sustainable approach to patient safety and system improvement you should consider:

• What development your team will require?
• How the developments will improve the culture of patient safety.
• What actions will you need to take to see this become a reality?

Using evidence from the literature, predominantly peer-reviewed journal articles, to support your work, the following steps will help you complete this task :

1. Provide some context to your practice area and relate your strategy to specific standards* or initiatives

2. Discuss the current safety culture with attention to where improvements could be made 

3. Briefly discuss what the literature presents in relation to developing a culture of safety 

4. Focus on one safety standard and the strategies you need as a leader to improve engagement in a sustainable approach to patient safety within your team and briefly outline how you will implement this ensuring that you support your discussion with literature from, predominantly, peer-reviewed journal articles

5. Discuss the leadership skills/traits you personally will need to develop to improve engagement, from there focus on two areas that you wish to develop and why the literature says they are important areas to develop a plan for improvement in your discussion. 

6. Provide a conclusion that draws together the main points of your work.
