Requirements

The research consultancy project is a substantial research project that forms the culmination of your Masters journey and marks your academic and business development. The consultancy project should be an applied piece of work around a contemporary and live strategic issue within your own place of work or on an organisation of your choosing which will be a meaningful and comprehensive response to your own research objectives. It is strongly recommended to have a specific study that has been addressed in the literature, rather than a study that is too broad or appears to be under researched.

You will be allocated a supervisor who will be your main support for this part of your programme. You will receive guidance and feedback on your progress by your supervisor. Please ensure that you regularly meet with your supervisor, especially during the early stages of your project, and to attend agreed appointments. A supervisory record will be filled out after every meeting.

Consultancy Project Requirements

The aim of the Leadership and Management Consultancy Project is to produce a piece of organisational research that advances knowledge in the subject area of business, management, and leadership. Your research project will encompass your approach to the research and the research methods that you have employed in analysing your findings from the investigative process. The project will comprise a number of integrative elements all of which will contribute to the achievement of the learning outcomes for this module.

The consultancy project will provide a point to reflect, and critically consider aspects of your programme to build a major academic study thereby helping you to make connections between emerging theory and practice, and reflection on your personal development as a consequence of this research project experience. Your project will need to address not only the contribution to the existing literature but also give direction and guidance to the workplace as to how application of theory might improve organisational performance.

A work-based impact report should also be incorporated into your research-based consultancy project. The work-based impact report includes a reflection on the implementation of the research project process as a whole and your individual effectiveness, for example, as a researcher, leader, problem solver and practitioner. Recommendations are a significant part of the impact report. The impact report should be included in a separate Chapter at the end of your research-based consultancy project.
