 OVERVIEW OF RELEVANT AREA AND POSITION SUMMARY  

The Student Support and Services (SSS) function, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), is moving towards a tiered service delivery model, that will deliver a central service for enquiry management whilst maintaining a local presence for specialised services. To enable this, a central team will be created comprised of four pillars that will work together, and partner with faculties, to deliver shared services and a great student experience.  

The Student Client Services department will drive the continuous improvement cycle for student services and will oversee the functions for enquiries management, student communications, business process improvement, and the partnership between shared services and Faculties.  

The Student Communications team operates as part of this area led by the Manager, Student  Communications, and is supported by a number of Student Communications Coordinators and Student  Communications Assistants. This role is responsible for supporting the delivery of content to students that is both engaging and appropriate via a range of channels. They will work with key stakeholders across the university to ensure all students have access to relevant and up to date communications.  

The role of the Student Communications Assistant reports directly to the Manager, Student Communications and has no direct reports.  

RESPONSIBILITIES  

Specific responsibilities for this role include:  

•  Participate fully within the Student Communications Team, contributing to creating a respected and customer-focused service with a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement? Provide support to the Manager, Student Communications to deliver student communications that are  current, well written and delivered in a timely and relevant way  
• Support the management of the content for the University’s CRM system, including appropriate governance for updating and delivery of knowledge base articles. Ensure web content is updated, as  required via all communication channels  
•  Adhere to and support the internal governance structure to develop communications to meet the wide-ranging information needs of current students  
•  Respond to student enquiries that arise through social media and other channels? Liaise with key stakeholders, including student representatives and staff who are supporting student  services across the University, so that student communications can be effectively managed and  enhanced  
•  Support the organisation of focus groups and other opportunities for student feedback, ensuring that  under-represented groups are included in this activity  
•  Maintain appropriate archival records of publications and communications  
•  Provide data and evidence to generate reports for senior managers and engage with the testing and  evaluation of the success of communication campaigns  
• Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact the health and safety of yourself or others.  

SELECTION CRITERIA  

•  Relevant qualifications with experience at level or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through  any other combination of education, training and/or experience  
•  Experience in assisting with the delivery of communications, including assisting in the preparation of tailored communications and engaging with audiences through a range of appropriate channels? Experience in working collaboratively with others to develop and execute successful communications? Strong written and verbal communication skills and the proven ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders? Good level of computer literacy with skills in Microsoft Office applications (e.g. experience in utilising  CRM systems)  ?
