Legal problems - Analyzing Law - Structuring - Property - Assessment Answer
AIMS:
The aim of this assessment task is to give students practice at preparing and presenting written answers to real-life hypothetical legal problems in Property. This assessment task enables students to extend the skills in analyzing law and facts and structuring an answer that they have been acquiring through the tutorial pre-preparation worksheets. As well as developing subject-specific and generic legal skills, this assessment task encourages students to further develop their graduate attributes, particularly that of self-management.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
On completing this exercise, students should have: gained experience in planning and structuring an opinion in the area of Real Property; read thoroughly in the particular area set for assessment; written a well-structured, concise response to the problem provided; demonstrated proficiency in researching a legal problem;
used appropriate footnotes or endnotes; gained in confidence with respect to giving written answers to problem questions; and put into practice the graduate attributes that underpin 70317 Real Property Law, in particular, that of self-management.
The ability to weigh competing demands, consider consequences of actions, to act with judgment and to accept responsibility for decisions are key aspects of self-management. They are also vital personal attributes sought by employers. Students, therefore, are given two options as to handing in Assessment Task 3.
Option 1: Students may hand in Part A on 2 September 2019 at 6:00 pm and the entire assignment (Parts A and B) on 16 September 2019. Students who hand in Part A on time will be eligible for an extension with respect to the submission of the entire assignment in accordance with the provisions on extensions outlined below. Part A will not be marked. It cannot be changed once submitted and must be included in the submission of the entire assignment unchanged. The entire assignment as handed in on 16 September 2019 will be marked.
Option 2: students may hand in the entire assignment (Parts A and B) on 16 September 2019. However, if students choose this option (and therefore do not hand in Part A separately on the dates above) they will not be eligible for an extension with respect to the submission of the entire assignment. To be clear, this means that if you are unable to hand the entire assignment in on 16 September 2019 the most likely outcome is that your Assessment task will receive a mark of 0.
