Question 1
Geospatial analytics gathers, manipulates and displays geographic information system (GIS) data and imagery including satellite photographs. It relies on geographic coordinates and specific identifiers to create geographic models and data visualisation for more accurate modeling and predictions of trends. This ECA requires you to practically create a layer of the Central Area in Singapore (defined by the Urban Redevelopment Authority at and analyse spatial patterns in the Central Area.
(a) Georeference the attached aerial photo “Marina_Bay.jpg” into a digital map layer using QGIS. In addition to the georeferenced photo combined with the digital map, indicate the adopted coordinate reference system, along with details of reference points, including but not limited to name, latitude and longitude of each reference point.
(b) Prepare the data for geospatial analysis by drawing the Marina Bay Street Circuit (Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix) on the digital map created in part (a) using
lines/polylines. Elaborate on how you applied vector data in the layer creation.
(c) Compare the land use in the Central Area between Master Plan 2008 and Master Plan 2019. Discuss five (5) major differences. What do you think is the purpose of these land use changes?
(d) Construct the unemployment rate of the Central Area in 2020 for the following zones:
• Downtown Core
• Outram
• River Valley
• Tanglin
• Bukit Merah
• Novena
• Kallang
Provide a reference to all sources of data in your geospatial analysis. State any assumptions made.
(e) Categorise the unemployment rate of each zone calculated in part (d) using QGIS symbology.
Propose one (1) geospatial analysis you can perform based on integrating the unemployment rate and any one dataset from OneMap’s Population Query.
SECTION B
Prepare a video recording of the presentation of at least 3 minutes but not exceeding 6 minutes.

SECTION C
Prepare a set of PowerPoint presentation slides upon which the video presentation is based.
